Matilda at Masham Market

Masham, which is midway between Ripon and Leyburn, received its first market charter in 1251. Today was market day (also Saturdays) but we found somewhere to park and explored what was on offer. We came away with a bird feeder/bath.

Like many towns in the area the houses in and around the market square are quite grand (see extra).

For such a small town it has two working breweries, the Black Sheep Brewery and Theakstons but we stuck with the wonderful carrot cake in the cafe in the far corner of the square near the church...
