Lathyrus Odoratus

Went down to the woods with the spaniel this morning hoping to find Speckled Wood butterflies. We came across several almost immediately but they were zipping about so fast I had no chance of a photograph. Here instead is an early purple orchid, which hardly moves at all. There were twenty or thirty of these in various stages of flowering. When we got home the first thing I saw in the garden was ..... a Speckled Wood. It became the tenth species of butterfly to visit the garden so far this year and my twelth species of the season. I know that Green Hairstreak and Small Copper are both out now so I'll be looking for them over the next few days.
