Above And Beyond...

Richards Castle

Year 2 Day 31 of UK COVID-19 Pandemic.  First UK Vaccine 138 days ago. England & Wales opening up. Non restricted travel.

A beautiful sunny day, we set off late morning to do a walk up to High Vinalls and Richard's Castle on the border of Herefordshire with Shropshire. It was supposed to be six miles but getting lost we ended up doing about eight! The main blip photo' is St Bartholomew's Church a 12th century Knights Templar Church next to Richards Castle (see extra)

Richards Castle dates from about 1080AD and called Avreton Castle in the Domesday Book (1086). It was one of a number of castles built by the English to control the Welsh on the border.

Cardiff City FC played Wycombe Wanderers at 3pm, but rather than be stuck in on a nice day, I kept track of the score as we walked. Cardiff won 2-1.
