Eggfly ....

... is a strange name for this butterfly. I saw it nearby while walking this morning. It's a male. The upper photo shows the underneath of the wing, the lower photo shows the upper surface (not a logical arrangement I now realise). In the top photo it's resting on a pandanus leaf, in the bottom on a Norfolk Island pine. It's found from Madagascar east to New Zealand and the Pacific islands, and north through Asia to Japan. Wikipedia has more information.
