Wide brown land

Dorothea Mackellar (1885 - 1968) is a well-known Australia poet. Many Australians can quote the second verse of her poem My Country, which starts with the words I love a sunburned country, a land of sweeping plains. She was born and raised in Sydney, and spend a lot of time in the Gunnedah area of New South Wales where her family owned property. She is remembered in Gunnedah with this silo art, created by the Mongolian/Australian artist Heesco (real name Khosnaran Khurelbaatar).

We stayed in Gunnedah last night, in the Mackellar Motel, and visited the silo art site this morning.
