Orange-tip Butterfly

After doing the weekily shop, including a quick trip to a local store checking out new dishwashers (which I will buy online),  I headed over to the Lakeside Nature Reserve near Ash for a picnic lunch and walk.

A short distance from the car I spotted a small clump of wild flowers - the only mauve-white colour in an otherwise spring green vista in this area. Subsequently the flowers appeared to be a magnet for butterflies. This is a male Orange-tip (Anthocharis cardamines) - its female partner (all white) was also flitting around but proved more trickey to shoot.
