Look, No Trams...

...and aren't we glad!

On the subject of the box junction the Highway Code says:
You MUST NOT enter the box until your exit road or lane is clear. However, you may enter the box and wait when you want to turn right, and are only stopped from doing so by oncoming traffic, or by other vehicles waiting to turn right.

This is all very well but, if we did that crossing Princes Street from the Mound, nobody would get anywhere so, when the traffic lights turn green and there's only one way to go, the queue of vehicles moves off. And, when that line of traffic suddenly stops for no apparent reason and the green man crossing comes into effect, whoever hasn't made it to the opposite side has to wait, in our case, directly on the tramline, while pedestrians drift along at their leisure.

Would it be too much to hope that, when if the trams do ever run, the traffic lights at the Mound will be synchronised to allow all the vehicles to clear the crossing?
