Behind you!

Quite different today - dull, drizzly and chilly. I'm afraid that I haven't left the property, though I did nip outside during a rare moment of sunshine to sow some more seeds - Eccremocarpus scaber, Leucothoe crocothyrsos and Echium candicans.

More 'Keep Oban Beautiful' stuff this afternoon. We're trying to persuade the council to update their Tree Preservation Order legislation and one of our number has rewritten the lengthy document for Benvoulin Woods to make it less pointless. Although it says that the wood has a TPO, I discovered a few years ago that this actually covered only four species and two of those, three maybe, weren't even native to Scotland. Although it made it clear that felling, lopping and topping couldn't be done without permission, there was no requirement for the owner to replant trees which had blown down - no future management at all as the whole woodland wasn't protected. They said they hadn't time to change it, so were doing it for them! I bet they won't accept it! We'll see.

My Blip today is of the potted bulbs outside the patio door - Rosie doesn't know she's been photographed!

Quote of the Day:

Chris Maser - “What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another.”
