Ruffled feathers

I spent the day at Slimbridge with a friend.  She had visited before and was rather disappointed at the low numbers of birds around.  There were however still lots to see and we stopped to photograph various types of flamingo, all from a distance as you can't get that close due to various restrictions.  We enjoyed watching two Euroasian Cranes amongst the reeds.  One remained more or less stationary while the other moved around and at one point started preening itself resulting in this display.

Most of the hides are closed due to covid restrictions and apparently they have had to keep certain birds including flamingos indoors due to bird flu restrictions that have only recently been lifted.  There is also a large amount of building work taking place and many birds have been temporarily rehoused in inaccessible areas.  It was good to visit though and will interesting to visit later in the year.

These were my favourites from those I have looked at so far.
