Protesting Young One

Day 7 (March 1st) in the Galapagos on San Cristobal Island. Well, today is our last day in theses amazing islands. We climbed to Punta Pitt where we saw a group of nesting Red-footed boobies, the smallest of the boobies. They often feed miles off shore and manage to bring back only enough food to raise a single chick. This chick was protesting as his mother flew off to find food; his white feet will turn red as he ages.

We will never forget the Galapagos islands, one of the few places in the world where animals and birds have been relatively untouched by the modern world. Experiencing the amazing diversity of animal and bird life serves to remind us of our connection to the natural world and the importance of conservation. Hopefully, these amazing creatures will be here for many generations to come.
