Moon Rise

It rains quite often in Scotland....
Winters are months of wet, cold and wind....
Summer is a few weeks of warm sunshine in April and May....
The midges on a good day are an irritation, on a bad day they can make you wish you’d never stepped outside....

Why would anyone choose to live here?

For me, it’s because every single day there are moments of such pure, natural beauty....
That I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else....

The Red Kites gliding effortlessly overhead, filling the skies with their mournful call....
The deer that hops across my path, stopping briefly to look into my eyes.....
The rivers and burns after rainfall, water roaring down from the hills....
The depth of the peace at sunrise, watching the world slowly wake....
The west coast sunsets, watching the sun drop into the sea and that moment where the ocean turns to gold....
The afternoon sun that breaks through the clouds to caress the trees creating that perfect blend of light and shadow....

And of course the moon rises, watching the moon rise over the loch is one of Scotland’s perfect moments....
Last night I thought the clouds would hide it from view, but they cleared at just the right moment....
The moon appeared through a gap in the clouds, the loch shimmered and everything stopped for a short while, enjoying the beauty of this wonderful world we’re lucky enough to call home.
