Hell Awaits!

The Hell Bunker awaits any golfer who strikes his golf ball and it lands here.

The Hell Bunker is part of the famous Old Course at St Andrews. The Old Course ground belongs to the people of St Andrews and is not available for play on a Sunday (tournaments excepted)

Anyone can walk over the Old Course on Sunday and that is just what we did for the first time.

We ran into an old friend Dermot S and his family who having been walking the course on Sundays for many years.

Dermot regaled us with many tales regarding the history of the course and pointed with pride to "Hell".

Hell is equipped with camera ports for tournament use and is equipped with a drainage system to clear any flood water.

We walked to the end and returned. Pat explained to Mrs S the benefits to human joints of Tumeric. It certainly works.

We also came across a Beagle dog with one blue eye and one brown eye. The dog’s name is Ziggie!  Any fan of David Bowie can make the connection.

The extra shows Hamilton Hall. The building featured in Chariots of Fire.

The building is now rather expensive apartments. Very expensive apartments and eye watering expensive apartments. They overlook the 18th hole of the Old Course.

We returned home and spent several hours on FaceTime to family relatives in California discussing "family matters".

We then watched Call The Midwife and Line of Duty. The final episode of Line of Duty should be interesting.
