Plough Lane

A bronze plinth is a monument to AFC Wimbledon, just outside a housing development that stands on the lands of the original Plough Lane stadium. We saw this on today’s local history walk. We’ve doing a few of them during lockdown. This wanders along the River Wandle and around the area that was home to both Wimbledon FC and Wimbledon Greyhound stadium. We used to live half a kilometre from the Greyhound Stadium so I thought we knew the area pretty well. It turns out that there's a whole part of the Wandle Trail, from here to the Trewint Street bridge, that we'd never walked down in spite of, probably, using all the other streets around there in the time we lived nearby.
