Wanderings & Witterings

Met one of my friends in Glasgow on Friday morning  Our plan was to continue our walk along the Forth and Clyde Canal, starting in the city centre and following the 'Glasgow Branch,' as it is called, to Stockingfield Junction and from there to Maryhill Locks. (We had walked from Cadder, near Bishopbriggs, to Maryhill Locks along the 'main' canal route in October, but further progress had been stymied by events since then.) Progress beyond Maryhill was a possibility, but that was dependent on the weather and various other factors.

In the event, it turned out to be a much better day, in many senses of the word, than we had expected and by the time we finished we had reached Clydebank. We had walked a little over nine miles, that distance helped in no small measure by various path closures and diversions along the way.

We even had a very pleasant, and unscheduled, stop at a canalside restaurant. What was intended as a mere coffee stop along the way turned into a most enjoyable lunch. Maybe it was the guilt of these extra calories that made us continue our walk to Clydebank!

Anyway, for my Blip today, I've chosen a new mural that has appeared by the Canal near Port Dundas and I've also added an extra taken at Maryhill Locks as the Canal goes over the Kelvin Aqueduct.

As I went to bed on Friday night, my wristwatch thingy recorded that I had completed 28,001 steps during the day. All that walking backwards and forwards to the fridge must have counted for some of them!
