Basking Bee

This bumbler landed on the outside of the kitchen window as i was washing up. Snuggled itself in, tucking its head right into the corner and legs and wings tightly into its body.

5 or so minutes later it roused, stretched and cleaned wings, legs, head then settled back down.

Meanwhile, the smallest red mite i've ever spotted (think a very small full stop) suddenly came into my focused eyeline as it power-walked round and along the glass above and to the left of the bee. I'm amazed at just how visible the miniscule whirring legs were.

Bug watching can hold you for long stretches, i find!
