Western Harbour

We discovered a new area to enjoy wildlife in an urban setting, at Lighthouse Park in the Western Harbour area., where three ponds support a variety of wildlife.
The patch of cowslips (main picture) was in the grassy area of the park, there were two pairs of swans nesting on separate ponds and a delightful mix of smaller birds - several goldfinches, greenfinch and a reed bunting (extra collage) and swallow besides the more common robin - in the willows and buddleia.
Over the harbour we watched a tern (? little tern) diving for fish and both heard and saw male eider ducks with their suggestive call
