Right Angle

The white bark of this fallen aspen tree drew me in for a photograph. The rough texture reminds me of crepe bandages.

The light was quite strong so I chose a viewpoint where most of the branch is in shadow to better show detail. The darker shape of the branch, bent at right angles, is in contrast to the lighter grasses behind. I guess you'd call it rim lighting since it's mostly in shadow.

I turned down vibrance and orange saturation to bring the grasses more in line with the tree, since that's my main subject. At this focal length and range, the depth of field is fairly narrow also drawing more attention on the tree.
