Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Prearranged meet with friends on what turned out to be a particularly wet and windy day. We all got drenched - but I was so glad to meet up, and I love the sculpture park, always lots to see and the bluebells looked fantastic - a sign I am told of ancient woodland.
This sculpture caught my eye today - called ‘idee di pietra’ - literally - ideas of stone by Giuseppe Penone, it’s a bronze cast tree, set within the woodland, in which a slowly eroded alpine river stone has been suspended. One of a series it uses the boulders erosion by water over time as analogy for thought and ideas generation. This particular piece - Olmo - demonstrates how art coexists with nature with each encouraging us to think more carefully about the other. I like that, and how it blends into this place.
Safely home now, warmed up with a bath and a cup of tea. Curry tonight

Thank you for the kind comments on yesterday’s blip, it really is appreciated
