Tiny Tuesday: Bealtine

Well this was a tricky challenge! But as usual my Editor helped out.

Bealtine (or Bealtaine - aka The Celtic Fire Festival) celebrates the start of the light part of the year. Most of the rituals involved fire; household fires would be put out and then re-lit using flames from the central bonfire. Cattle were led out to pasture and temporary marriage and employment contracts also ended around this time, so many people were looking for new wives, husbands or jobs!

It was considered important to keep the fairies happy so we’ve included them in this miniature scene too.

There’s lots more fascinating information here.

Many thanks to freespiral for this fascinating TT challenge.
