A New Barista...

..at Trail House in a toilet paper shirt.

I teetered on the hill with my clippers to trim the bottlebrush hedge of most the brown branches. It looks a lot better but it's not really a hedge anymore.* The other section isn't coming back so fast and will probably be taken out, but with the drought we have decided not to plant anything new for now. The tree people are coming tomorrow and I am hoping they cut off the hanging brown branches of the oak trees, although they have recommended we wait a full year to see what grows back before we cut any trees down.

While I was toiling away on the bottlebrushes, Spike was happily plowing through the weeds at the bottom of the hill looking for his Kong. By the time I paid attention to him, he was coated with something sticky and full of burrs, so I had to give him a bath.** Fortunately he is very patient about having burrs pulled out of his unruly coat. We think it's cute, but we may have to get him a haircut during the weed season. John usually cuts the weeds inside our fence, but he hasn't been able to do it this year and the gardeners have been fully occupied with rebuilding fences and smoothing out the patio.

Now we're all exhausted and ready for our wine on the porch in perfect tee shirt weather.
