Another Mountain

I seem to be seeing maunga or mountains in Maori, on this trip.  When Maori  introduce themselves in a formal setting they tell people who they are by sharing the places that are special to them.  They list the mountain, the awa/river, the waka/canoe, the tribe, the marae and their parents names.  This is Mt Tarawera which erupted in 1886.  Lake Tarawera was our favourite lake to swim in when we lived in Rotorua.  Today we spent time catching up with the news of our friends Meg and Ian who are fortunate to live beside this lake and the mountain is seen from the lounge windows.  Meg introduced me to Blip and used to blip as Tarawera Times.
