Life after Burradoo, NSW

By MountGrace

Fun days on the campaigns

We are watching the UK elections with great interest. A very dear friend is retiring this election after over 20 years as a County and/or District Councillor. We know how much of his life he has devoted to serving his community and we wish we were in the UK with him watching how his successor goes in this election. We're following as closely as we can but it's hard from the other side of the world.

Being so involved has brought back memories of the various times we have acted as volunteers for candidates at Federal and NSW state elections.  We have letter-dropped and stood for hours at elections booths. We have always found it a very interesting and enjoyable, albeit tiring, experience. The people who were there to support the other candidates were, for the most part, very respectful,  pleasant and good fun. Long live democracy.

Fourth day in a row of non-stop rain!
