Spring Morning

Decided it might be dry enough to walk around the whole of Redgrave & Lopham Fen - we've been along the south side several times over the winter but haven't braved the black fen peat & mud with the dog. He doesn't complain about it, but it's the washing afterwards that isn't so good!

Anyway, a beautiful day, the paths reasonably dry, & everything springing into life - fresh green leaves, flowers, cuckoos, swallows (or may have been martins, they were quite a way away), a hobby, insects, including some damselflies. The main picture shows some of the Koniks which are used to graze the fen, while the extras show some twisted oaks, the root system of a fallen tree (oak maybe, virtually no soil remaining, hard to tell whether by natural or human washing) & the River Waveney which has its source on the western edge of the fen.
