Arran

Challenging weather for our first full day here on Arran. Very poor light in the morning and strong gusty wind later.

A day for a series of short exploratory walks mainly down by the shore on the south western corner of the island. Quite a lot of birdlife on the beaches. Terns, Oyster Catchers, Kentish Plovers and others but no real possibility of decent shots.

Main shot is Sea Thrift  (Armeria maritima), a favourite coastline wild flower.

You can see the poor light in the extra which shows Queen Canute contemplating her impossible challenge.

Weather is forecast to improve as the week progresses.
