Pesky Mallards

Training the binoculars on the far end of the distant field I made the discovery that my solitary Canada goose of the past weeks, is not actually on his own. Not only has he a mate but she must have been brooding the eggs with the result that they have four little yellow goslings.

Dad is constantly on watch and mum has the chicks under her wing. Yes I know - I need to be nearer but that involves taking the tripod and lens over a really deep ditch. We shall see. The mallard on the right was causing a bit of angst and dad did chase the offending duck away a few times but still he returned. No way was I going to upset the applecart by sneaking up too.

Today has been a great day. The workmen doing the garden renovations start tomorrow and left the digger which has meant we've been able to take down a brick wall and pull out a couple of shrubs. Hard work but great fun. We've actually filled the skip to capacity. Hubs was in his element. Boys toys ........

Early start in the morning!
