Northern Star

I’m loving using my new CD player. This morning I listened to a new Christine and the Queens album before I even got up. The sound quality is divine!

Tonight I’ve gone to bed early so I can listen to something relaxing. I’ve dug out an album Amuna (or maybe Amiina? The font is a bit arty and challenging to decipher) - Kurr. The album cover features a very hipster type photo of 4 young women knitting a scarf or blanket around a small table. It looks a bit 1970s Tom Baker inspired.

I think maybe the band is Icelandic and maybe I discovered them when going through a Sigor Ros phase (I found all those albums too!) it’s perfect bedtime music. If you like chill music with lots of little percussion gems and the occasional sound of a bendy saw blade being played by a bow you may like it. I haven’t listened to it for years - what was I thinking?!

A productive day and the weather was better than expected. My dwarf beans seedlings are very healthy and I’m ready to plant more. I suspect they will be my most successful crop of the year.

A relative told me they paid £6 for a pint of larger today (in a pub close to Wigan). I think I held the record (in my family) for drinking the most expensive pint in the UK in an ‘ordinary pub’ at £5 (Southport). At this rate it’s going to be cheaper pints down south. I hope this isn’t going to be a post lockdown normality.
