METEOR CRATER

It's wide Wednesday although I plead ignorance to the Theme of the Day. This shot will have to do. About 50,000 years ago an iron asteroid hit this spot in Arizona and left its footprint behind. The asteroid that hit was between 30-50 meters in diameter and its impact excavated an estimated 175 millions tons of rock.

This is a very wide angle shot and shows most of the crater which is, in actuality, 3891 feet wide (1,186 m)......that's just short of three-fourths of a mile (1.21 km). It's a big hole and it's 560 feet (171m) deep.

Izzat wide enough for Wide Wednesday?

Most clearly seen in Large.
