Rottnest (Ratsnest)

We have had a spectacular day on Rottnest Island today and have just come back to our great little cottage on Thompson’s Bay after a scrumptious dinner.  We certainly earned it and decided we could justify Carbohydrate loading tonight as we have another long ride on our hired electric bikes tomorrow.  Of course the little Quokka had to feature on our blip journals tonight and we have just seen dozens of them on our walk home from the restaurant tonight.  This little character was kilometres from the settlement and I was happy to see him feasting on the local vegetation.  When the Dutch first discovered the island they thought the Quokkas were large rats and that’s how it got it’s name.
I can’t process images from my rx10 tonight but tomorrow I will post a couple of extras of the magnificent Ospreys who we sighted sitting on their massive nest this afternoon.  Mauzee has told the full story of how we were able to photograph them.  All in all it has been another trip down memory lane for me and brings back the wonderful holidays we had on “Rotto” when I was a little girl.  The extra is of Mauzee half way through her first ever Electric Bike ride.  This old girl actually taught her a thing or two, particularly on those big hills.  Woohoo!!
