A little tern makes an offer of matrimony to another. That's 'little tern' as in that's the name of the species, not just a description of its lack of size. This was on the beach at Churchill Barrier #4 that connects Burray to South Ronaldsay. |They'll be nesting soon and it is the most northerly little tern colony in the UK. The beach is busy by Orkney standards so it is a pity that they haven't chosen one of the barely-frequented beaches of which there are quite a few in Orkney .
