Fugitive Peppers

Yesterday’s frost was a killer. Because I spent the day in Christchurch I didn’t have time to see the damage. All my frost tender plants were savaged, even in the greenhouse. I picked these peppers today as the two plants they were growing on were ruined. I also removed the yellow cherry tomatoes that have been providing me with a handful of wee tomatoes for my lunch for the last few months.

I was sad to see the poppies that were doing so well collapsed flat and not likely to stand up again. Frosts are expected to happen, of course, but only 4 or 5 days ago the overnight temperatures were 14º to 17º C.

I was late posting yesterday's blip.
