River Dee, Llangollen

I’ve passed through Llangollen several times on my way to and from Snowdonia so this time I decided to stop. It’s a pretty, tourist town with the famous Pontcysyllte Aquaduct nearby.

The aquaduct designed by Thomas Telford & William Jessop, dates from the Industrial Revolution and carries the Lllangollen canal in a cast iron trough, 39m above the River Dee! Canal boats pass along it in single file - see extras - yes that is a boat up there! A fascinating blip stop.
