Bluebell Woods, Sandy Lane

We both felt low this morning owing to the impact of the proposals by the Parish Council to move us from our allotments to a new site to allow the expansion of the tennis club and the carpark.

The allotment committee has asked for our views and has called a site meeting to discuss the next steps with plotholders. At the heart of our grievance is the lack of consultation. It turned out that our committee chairman found out about the plans when he was called to a council meeting on Wednesday morning. The Parish Council published a FaceBook post at 12.20 proclaiming the project and we had an email from the Clerk at 12.26.

Doreen is also giving cause for concern. We think she’s had at least two more TIAs in the past 7 days. The impact of the allotment announcement on the back of all the caring duties over the past 15 months is knocking Susan sideways. Susan’s up with her mum now seeing how she is and getting her something to eat.

It didn’t get too much better this afternoon except for a few minutes when we passed through some absolutely splendid bluebell woods along Sandy Lane. The sight of them carpeting the ground all around gave a great rush of well being.

Then I lost my cap. I dropped it after answering a call of nature, not realising I’d dropped it until much later. We had to retrace our steps - back to the loo stop and there it was. Phew. That would have been the second cap I’d lost in 4 weeks.

We’d done all the cleaning and cooking this morning, so we’re looking forward to a pleasant Saturday evening after a trying sort of day.
