Walk and weir

The Minx and I had planned a walk, this morning, but she was already hard at work by the time we'd planned to go out, so I went out for a stroll on my own, taking in the uni shop (for a coffee), Peel Park, and Salford Meadow.

This is the view of the weir on the Irwell by the old Adelphi wharves from the Meadow. Presumably it was created to power a water wheel or similar but I guess it also meant boats couldn't proceed any further upstream from here. I need to look into this a bit more!
