Lanyblodwell

My knee is not any better and is limiting what we can do and for how long. Basically, I am finding it difficult to walk, especially going downhill. So, much of today has been spent reading the Sunday paper (for once.) We had another trip into Oswestry this morning to purchase said paper and to explore the town a little more. This afternoon we went for a short drive to an old village called Llanyblodwell. The village is just in Wales and over centuries has been the scene of several extremely violent conflicts. Today it is very peaceful and picturesque with an old bridge over the river, a small oxbow lake and a church with Norman foundations and a mid-Nineteenth century Gothic make-over. The octagonal tower dates from the Gothic period. Unfortunately the church was not open so we could not see the interior, which is described as 'unforgettably quirky'.
I thought that monotone suited the Gothic style. I also wonder whether the inscription over a side door is a suitably ambiguous prayer for today to which you can interpret the metaphors of earthquakes, lightning etc for yourself.
