An alternative gallery

We little dreamt when we set off this afternoon to see my tutors art installation set in woodland that we would be stepping into an   holistic centre specialising in alterative health therapies and fire walking,
(Apparently fire walking helps you focus, or if that is too much you can try walking on glass.)

Tir Na Holistic Centre, near Drymen, is showing Gillian Coopers outdoor textile exhibition which is reached after a twenty minute walk down a narrow steep gorge leading initially to a clearing with a wooden structure (see extra) for gatherings, hosting parties and events. (We found a placard with “Fantastic Fungi” so no guesses what goes on there).

Eventually we reached the woodland gallery, on the opposite side of the gorge. The setting is incredible, maybe we were lucky with the weather and the tourist season is yet to start but we were the only people there and the atmosphere was quite magical.

This is certainly an exhibition space with a difference and Gillian’s evocative and sensitive textile hangings draw their inspiration from the surrounding woodland.

Think Findhorn on a modest scale.
