Cygnet

I'm pleased to report that all seven cygnets are still on the pond.  They are prone to predation so local folks hold their breath at this time of year and hope for the best.  The parents were certainly doing a good job of scaring away an inquisitive dog when I was up there in the showers this afternoon.  I shared my duck food with a little girl who wanted to know all about them.

The morning was spent going in and out of the kitchen door hanging out washing and taking it back in, grrrr!  Tony baked a fruit cake and I replaced the raspberry buns which lasted two days, glad to know they are appreciated.

We had a smashing Skype with Euan and his Mum and Dad late yesterday.  They are on an extended weekend break in the mountains of New Hampshire.  Euan's latest word is the two syllable 'bubbles' which was lovely to hear.  He was painstakingly pouring water between several containers on the deck and we had a couple of rounds of 'Incey Wincey' which were applauded.  When he's had enough of us, he switches us off!  Thankfully that is not for some time.
