Alnwick Gardens

Wednesday 19th May

A visit to Alnwick Gardens today. The water cascade is the main feature and the water "dances" every half hour. I could have posted a standard view of it but I liked the fun element of this one where it looks like the man is about to get a shower and is totally oblivious! (He didn't actually get wet)

We walked around the whole of the gardens, seeing (and playing) with the various fountains and admiring the flowers. We had our picnic in the ornamental garden and then had an ice cream when we got back to the bottom of the cascade. We were entertained by Mr & Mrs Mallard. As soon as we sat on the bench they ran over to us and then stayed at our feet chattering away and making it obvious they wanted something to eat. They got rewarded and were happy to eat out of my hand. Just as we were starting to leave the thunder started and the sky came very dark. We escaped at the right time, as the storm remained local to Alnwick.

The extra treats from today:-

14) Seeing the primroses along the hedgerow
15) Playing the "She's 93" card (we hardly ever do that) and being allowed to park in the accessible car park for free (we even saved the £3 parking fee for some reason, even though we only wanted to save the extra distance, as it was quite a way)
16) Watching the dancing water
17) Sitting on a bench in the sun in the beautiful gardens
18) Enjoying an ice cream
19) Being entertained by the ducks wanting feeding
