Ladies Who Lunch

One of the advantages of ‘working from home’ is that ‘home’ can be a moveable feast. So, this last week I’ve upped sticks and set up a bijou ‘office away from office’ at M’s house. If anything, my week’s been busier than usual, with Zoom and Teams meetings a-go-go, but it’s been lovely to have M working in the next room and to be able to have lunch together and go for evening walks - rain permitting.

Today, we celebrated the first weekend since the latest lockdown easing by heading into central Manchester and visiting the Whitworth Art Gallery. Our first visit to a gallery in about 9 months. And an opportunity to have a leisurely lunch in the gallery’s gorgeous café. Yes, actually indoors!

The café is a beautiful glass ‘finger’ that reaches out amongst the trees of Whitworth Park at first floor level so that it feels like being in a stylish tree house - with excellent food laid on! We also watched a choir rehearsing in the park below, and later went outside to listen to them. It all felt like heaven!

Here’s M as we awaited our lunch order.

And here’s one of the songs that’s been on our playlist this week, Edie Brickell and The New Bohemians with ‘What I Am’ https://youtube.com/watch?v=tDl3bdE3YQA

PS I just want to note for the record that today was the day that Europe reeked its revenge on us for our almighty Brexit folly when we came last in the Eurovision Song Contest with the classic ‘nul points’.
