Howick Hall

Sunday 23rd May 2021

It wasn't forecast to rain today so we went to Howick Hall Gardens and Arboretum. It was lovely walking through the trees and especially the area called Silverwood, which was full of beautiful shrubs - rhododendrons, azaleas etc . We walked through tunnels of beautiful colour, which were made to sparkle every time the sun came out. We had our picnic in the arboretum, visited the church and walked around the hall terrace garden. Unfortunately it then started to rain but it was very brief. We continued on to the bog garden, which looked much nicer than the name suggests, and we were just on our way to the sensory garden when the rain came in force. We decided to retreat to the car but the rain was so heavy we were soaked by the time we got there. A lovely way to spend part of the day, we returned to base to sort our photos and photobooks for the week.

Extra treats:
35) 7th day without an alarm clock
36) Having a Sunday off
37) Seeing the rhododendrons in flower
38) Picnic in an arboretum.
