Birds at Bolton Abbey

After a yoga and herbs workshop this morning we drove out to Bolton Abbey. Despite it being a dull day it was rich with birds and beauty. Swift’s, sand martins and swallows - lots of them flying low along the river, sandpipers, dippers, pied wagtail along the banks, oyster catchers, and pheasant and geese on the land. Oh and the ducks, ducklings and mandarins - we saw 2 pairs- on the water. Hard to choose - again - but I’ve gone for the mandarin - such beautiful birds

Some of the others are included in the montage. The central images is of The Strid, and above that how the power of the water has sculptured the stone.

Some lovely wildflowers today too, butterbur and marsh valerian are two I’ve never clocked before - both in the montage

Hope your weekend has been a good one
