Glumes

Sepia, seed heads, simple, these are words describing the image, words which start with an S, but to be fair and correct the empty shielding parts of these wild oats are called glumes. Don't you think they do have a certain elegance from close-up, if you disregard the dust ? ;-) Part of my evergrowing seed heads collection in the pantry window.
