A towel would be useful today

I got hailed on as I collected salad from the garden.

Perhaps I should have done what fans of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy do on this day, in memory of Douglas Adams - carry a towel.

Because, as the book says, a towel "is the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have." Besides, "any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with."
