Quod oculus meus videt

Bridge No 9

This really was a tale of the right footwear.  We hadn't, the couple ahead had.  As the Shropshire Union Canal passes Brewood, it goes into deep cutting.  A feat of engineering, rather than building locks, Thomas Telford used cut and fill to flatten out the route of the canal, speeding up transit times as a result.  Unfortunately for us, the footpath between Bridge 10 at Chillington and Bridge 9 was a quagmire after all the rain we've suffered in May.

Afterwards, we visited the Oakley Arms for a late lunch, our first foray into indoor hospitality.  Not bad.

We also heard back on some early results from the Events Research Group, regarding the trial events that have taken place over the last month, including the Snooker World Championships, FA Cup and music events in Liverpool.  Over 58,000 people attended these events and apparently just 15 tested positive in the period after each event.  While we are aware a great deal of care was taken to check on that entrants were negative before each event, it still gives some confidence as we go forward into summer.
