Chaser

I was utterly thrilled to see my first broad bodied chaser, a female, on the canal here in Tewkesbury this afternoon, not with out the help of the warden here who spotted it with her bins.

At this time of year the river banks are normally heaving with insects but with the wet and cold everything seems to be about four weeks behind so it was with a grin I took some shots. As soon as the sun appeared from behind the rain clouds the damsels started appearing, not in huge numbers but better than nothing and at least the season is getting underway.

I was also given the heads up about a woodpecker nest which I was happy to find after I had exhausted the chaser or vice versa!
