HOLKER HALL GARDENS

Pronounced Hooker not Holker!!

Such a lovely morning that I decided to take G to Holker Hall gardens for a walk around to get some fresh air and enjoy the sun.  Hubby, of course, couldn't be dragged away from his garden and allotment!!!!!

We arrived not long after they'd opened and already there were a few cars there but no matter it's a big place.  I bought a couple of annual passes so we can go back again any time this year that we want to.

We started off by going straight to the stone circle as not many people seem to go there and we were the only ones there, so peaceful and lovely.  Then we went up to their sundial dish and on through the wooded area to amphitheatre beyond.

The area near the stone circle is a meadow and they cut through a couple of paths so the wild flowers can be left to grow.  It was gorgeous I was quite happy to sit there and just enjoy the meadow.
Took several photos on the way, as you will see in extras .  I was going up to the walled garden but G started to get dizzy so time so slowly wend our way back.  Luckily there are plenty of places to sit so we did when he needed to.

Whilst he was resting and OK I scooted of the fountain and after waiting for an older couple to leave to take some photos a rainbow formed on the water so blip sorted for today I thought - hope you like it !!??

Holker have also got a square near the beginning of the gardens which they have put down loads of wildflower seeds and invite people to go back and see what has grown during June and July - may visit then to see what is there.

On the way back up we saw a lot of people coming on in and a queue forming so it was a good time for us to leave.  G is very uncomfortable around a lot of people, partly because he still has only had one jab today (second one due mid June).

We did think of going for a coffee and cake but the courtyard area was quite full, although I think we could  have found a table, but didn't feel comfortable doing that so just came home instead.  We were back home by 12:15 so it was a lovely morning.

No point going next week as it will be very busy so I will again early one morning when it's quiet again, maybe persuade hubby to come with me next time if I choose a day that isn't too sunny so he doesn't have to think about giving up his allotment!!!
