Here I Go Again

Last August we gathered together in a socially distanced way to start rehearsals for our 2021 pantomime. Unfortunately, the Tier system followed by the November lockdown brought an end to these activities and the decision was taken, just prior to the announcement of this years lockdown, that there would - sadly - be no pantomime in 2021 and that it would be carried forward into 2022.
However, the opening up of the country recently, coupled with the successful vaccination programme, means we may be able to put on a limited programme of shows this autumn. Our regular “songs from the shows” production may have to be amended slightly as current rules do not allow more than six performers singing together at one time. No big budget chorus numbers then! This is constantly under review so things may change later in the year.
But it is highly likely we can put on a play in the autumn. We have chosen a comedy with a small cast and had a Zoom read through back in April. That narrowed down who could play what role and last night we had the joy of a proper - albeit still socially distanced - face to face read through.
Looks like it’s going to be great fun and we must just keep on hoping that we will be able to perform it in front of a real audience later this year.
Another read through planned for next week and then we can start rehearsals in earnest in July. By which time I’m sure we will all have learnt our lines!
