Candle In The Wind

The hanging of pictures in the lounge has temporarily ground to a halt, due to disagreements about where to put the half dozen pieces that are left. The only solution may be to do a few swaps with what is on the walls in the Chester flat. We’re going there next week so we’ll see what we can find.
But this picture did make the cut. It was a 40th birthday present to me from Mrs C and is something quite out of the ordinary. The image is produced using an old Victorian technique of candle smoke on glass and, as the card on the back attests, every piece is an original. The more you look at it, the more detail you seem to see and it is a nice reminder of the time when we had Collies of our own. When we had some other prints framed recently, I asked them to tidy up the back of this one as the tape was coming unstuck and the cord looked a bit loose. Hardly surprising I suppose, as it’s 22 years old and spent the last couple of years up in the loft. But it looks good as new now and has earned its place on the wall.
Not a bad day as it happened. The workmen digging up the road knocked off at lunchtime so we’ve had a bit of peace and quiet today. We even managed to get to the gym in the morning and cleared some unwanted items out of the loft in the afternoon. With the sun threatening to put in an appearance later, it’s shaping up to be a good weekend.
