Youngster

It was recorder lesson first thing and issues with my creaky fingers trying to produce a decent bottom F, that is going to take some work!  After that there was time for a little pottering around the garden and a couple of Czech lessons.

There have been several youngsters in the elder tree throughout the day.  An adult sparrow was trying to escape from its offspring by leading it to the feeders and then flying off, tough love.  A young dunnock sat for a long time above the feeding tray watching the birds come and go before attempting to land on it.  It was spooked by the arrival of several larger birds but I could almost see the learning happening.  It certainly ate a great deal of fat bits when it eventually managed to land.  This young coal tit was sitting high in the tree, with a great view of the action.

Hobbler S (WilsdenWalker) and I had a great run out early evening with a fair degree of uphill!  We counted six cygnets as we rounded the pond and we are hoping that no. 7 was hidden behind the parent.
