Stratford

We've had quite a nice day, even given the rain which wasn't forecast but didn't really start until we were home.  I was to have a blood test this morning but the surgery rang whilst I was having breakfast to tell me it had to be postponed until next week.  So we decided to go into Stratford anyway and settled down to a coffee and peppermint tea outside Nero to listen to the Henley Street busker and watch the people.  Life seemed almost normal, there were even people sitting inside.

From there we wandered down the pedestrianised High Street and Sheep Street heading for the river and RSC.  I wanted to see what they were doing to the Swan Theatre Gardens.  Apparently they are digging them up to build yet another theatre, this time a temporary outside place to be known as the Lydia and Manfred Gorvy Garden Theatre (I googled them, they are very rich!).  The gardens will be restored in October when the whole place is dismantled.  There is reassurance on the notice that none of the trees will be damaged/uprooted/chopped down.  I've put a 'before' picture in the extras, hopefully  an 'after' one will follow.

As we were walking back along Chapel Lane I turned round and thought "that may make an interesting  photo" (feel free to disagree!) rather than the full building pic I'd already taken.  For those with an interest in the 'famous' Stratford  lamppost collection, the nearest was donated by Nottingham, the next along by Northampton and the one outside the Swan, Medway.

This afternoon we took it easy, and in an idle moment caught unawares, we booked another holiday…..well the forecast is good for a while!
