In the Nortwa'

At the road end at the northern tip of a Northern Isle we found a cultural oasis.

At 3 Lettan, Sanday, we were welcomed by Bill McArthur, a greatly inventive gardener.  He had previously spent his life at sea on a Creel boat travelling between Orkney - Flannan Isles - St Kilda.  He only sold his boat two years ago.  Now 83, he paints and paints.  It was a pleasure to spend time with him.  He gets only about 20 gallery visitors per year relying on his website for sales.

Another chilly, haary grey day.
